Our Cottages on Boyden Lake
South Meadow Cottages are located on Boyden Lake in Perry, Maine. We’re Way Down East, in the eastern-most part of the United States. Calais, Maine and the Canadian province of New Brunswick are 16 miles north and Eastport is 12 miles to the east.
The cottages are comfortably furnished, and are supplied with blankets and pillows. We request that people bring their own bed linens and towels, but if you are traveling by plane and that is a hardship, we will provide everything for a small fee, based on the size of your party. Should there be more than six in your group, portable beds are available, as well as a baby crib.
Most of the cottages have new wood-burning stoves with glass doors (except Red, which has a stone fireplace) to take away the morning and evening chill. Wood is provided in a wood shelter by each cottage. Boats and canoes (life jackets are included) are available for rent on the premises by the day or week. If you bring your own boat, make sure that both boat and carrier have been thoroughly cleaned to prevent the possibility that invasive water plants might tag along. Fishing licenses can be obtained from the Perry Town Clerk. No license is required to fish in the salt water. Boyden Lake is a recognized bass fishing lake. Several of our campers landed 5 pound bass last summer; and perch, pickerel and the occasional land-locked salmon are also caught.
If you want to grill your catch, we have a gas grill available, and if you want to plan a lobster feed (after all, you’re in Maine), we have the pots and picks for you to use.
